Carbon Nano-Fiber Dispersions
Carbon nano-fiber dispersions are available as custom dispersions in the customer’s
target medium. An example of a dispersion of multi-walled carbon nano-tubes (MWCNT)
in an epoxy resin is shown below.

As received, MWCNT products exist as highly aggregated clumps of fibers, a
difficult dispersion challenge in any medium. Users of MWCNT are typically
forced to use high-shear processes and unwanted solvents to assist in debundling
of the material, often resulting in loss of aspect ratio and unnecessary solvent
removal steps. Five Star MWCNT dispersions are characterized by highly uniform
fiber dispersions, free of aggregates yet still maintaining the fiber network
needed for conductivity. As with other Five Star dispersions, the exceptional
uniformity enables the use of higher loading levels while maintaining acceptable
processing viscosities. In addition, Five Star dispersions are available in
a number of prepolymer media, allowing the reduction or elimination of solvents.
